Dr.Sheila Nield

BSc (Hons), PGDip, DCounsPsy. 

Dr Sheila Nield is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist who has worked principally in adult mental health.  She offers both short and long term psychological therapy for a range of problems. Her approach is integrative/relational; principally using (but not limited to) psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural (CBT) approaches; working through the confidential interaction of client and therapist.

Sheila started her career as a registered nurse with later training as a midwife; subsequently working in schools and then in palliative care. 

Sheila has trained to Doctoral level at Teesside University. 
She is committed to ongoing personal and professional development and regularly attends workshops and courses which are of relevance to her work.

Supervision is offered to students.

Short and long term psychotherapy is offered to adults, students, couples and young people for a wide range of problems including:

  • anxiety, depression
  • low self esteem
  • trauma
  • stress
  • bereavement & loss
  • health & employment issues
  • relationship problems (with couples or individually)
  • abuse issues
  • obsessive compulsive disorders.

 

The Clinic on the Green offers a safe confidential environment in which to meet and work.  Clients may refer themselves for assessment and therapy.  An initial consultation can be arranged for those clients who wish to meet with Sheila before commencing the therapeutic process.
