Reverse Therapy

What is Reverse Therapy?

Reverse Therapy is a supportive educational or coaching process.  It can be used to treat a variety of conditions including:

  • ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Post Viral Fatigue
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Stress / PTSD
  • Emotional Problems

It may also reduce the symptoms of some auto immune conditions.

It works on the understanding that part of the brain, the hypothalamus, has set off an alarm response, the "fear, flight and fight" mechanism.  As part of that response the hypothalamus sets off a series of reactions through the hormonal and nervous systems, shunting blood away from the brain, overworking the muscles, closing down digestion, disrupting the immune system and interfering with temperature and sleep control.  Hence the many, varied and varying symptoms seen in these conditions.

Therapists work together with clients to find out what has fired off that alarm response and what things the client needs to do to turn it off again.  Clients are then supported through the process of making those changes.
