In 2005 she made the decision to return to study and started with her first degree in Reiki and began to take her first steps onto a more rewarding career path as a Massage Therapist.
Joanne qualified with an ITEC diploma in Holistic Massage and Anatomy and Physiology at the Sylvia Brearley School of Massage, Harrogate in July 2006.
Joanne then went onto qualify with the London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage where she qualified with a diploma in Thai Yoga Massage in July 2007. Since then she has furthered her skills with advanced courses in Thai Oil Massage and Thai Yoga Herbal Massage.
To advance her knowledge in “Eastern” massage therapy Joanne went on to obtain a VTCT qualification in Indian Head Massage at York College in July 2008. This course included the use of specific beneficial Ayurvedic oils. (See Indian Head Massage listing for more details)
Joanne is able to draw on her “Western “ and “Eastern” massage therapies to offer clients a variety of clothed, unclothed, seated, table, futon styles of treatments. Joanne begins all initial treatments with a detailed consultation to ensure that clients get the tailored massage treatment that need.
As part of her Continued Professional Development (CPD) Joanne is currently studying “on site” massage with the Association of Seated Massage. This therapy is based on traditional Japanese “Anma” massage and it incorporates Chinese meridian and pressure point work.
Joanne is a full member of the Complementary Therapist Association and as such her details can be found on their Embody register of professional therapists at www.embodyforyou.com.
